Pray for Nice
There is no longer any explanation than this: Our world is filled with hate and violence. While reading an article concerning the attack in Nice, France I read that this is the 3rd major terrorist attack within 18 months in France. Unbelievable. It's times like this when people begin to become hopeless, numb, and drained from having no where to turn. From multiple social media posts focused on Nice to many prayers for Nice, the Lord displayed something neat onto my heart.
As well as praying for Nice, I believe we should all, as believers, ask God to teach us to ask Him for strength every day so we can be reminded of all the battles He has already one. "How could God allow something bad to happen?" God has no sin; therefore He is incapable of enticing one to sin or destroying His people in a horrible way. However, He does allow us to be tempted by the evil one to test, prove, or help us to grow; but He is definitely not the tempter! "And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it!" (1 Corinthians 10:13)
This attack is a good example but there are many ways the Lord allows satan to tempt us because He sees something in our hearts that needs to be exposed. I have no idea what the Lord's reason was behind the attack in Nice but what I do know is: We do not need to know every fact about every event in both Scripture and modern day life. We don't always have the explanations for certain events and acts of God because He is simply sovereign. In all honesty, He owes us no explanation because His purpose is for us to walk by faith, not by sight.
If there is a couple truths I got out of both my devotion this morning and the news in Nice is that we need to acknowledge that His ways are higher than ours and acknowledge what we do know about God. "Anytime you are overwhelmed by what you do not know or understand about God, consider what you do know about Him" (Beth Moore).
My prayer for those affected in Nice, France:
He is your strength when you are weak.
He is your deliverer when you are trapped.
He is your fortress.
He is your refuge and shield when all hope is lost.
He is your Lord when things do not make sense.
He is your fighter!!!
I am grateful and He is gracious. Happy Day!
XO
(inspired by Beth Moore)
