Loving-Kindness
I absolutely enjoy when the Lord places super super cool things on my heart. Especially when it's mostly through His word, isn't that ironic? Haha. This one in particular gave me smiles on smiles and the energy coffee could never give me!
As I was reading 2 Samuel 9, when David asks Ziba if there is anyone of Jonathan and Saul's family that is in need of desperate comfort and mercy. At this point David has this crave to just give out the loving-kindness that God has given him. Just like David at this point, God desperately wants to give us His loving-kindness, but only if we will receive it.
I pondered over this for a little bit. If you think about it, "why wouldn't anyone want to accept FREE loving-kindness?!" Beth Moore says it spot on, "Many people wait until they can get their act together before they approach God. If only they could understand that God calls them just the way they are; then He empowers them to get their act together!" I certainly believe there is a constant trend through the Word which is: His ways are not our ways. I've said it before and you best believe I will continue to share that remarkable truth, because it is so profound! Consider this for a moment: Our emotion, physical, and spiritual healing has come only from approaching God and letting Him do all the work, not by ourselves trying to cover all the shame, mess, and guilt up. Expressing your emotions and crying out to God works wonders, let me tell ya.
He is the shame destroyer and the lover of the lame!!! You can count on me when I say this: "I would have never learned to walk with God on healthy feet had I never experienced sitting at His table as a cripple" (Beth Moore). God does not expect you to come to the faith without needing faith. What's the point then? One comes to the faith for comfort, grace, mercy, and His unfailing loving-kindness, why? It may be your last resort, but hey you're coming to the faith right? He might be all you have left when no one seems to be there but He's comforting you right? It may even be that you want something so badly that you think if you ask God for it, you will receive it? But in reality that is when He begins to work in your thoughts & actions and demonstrates that you are asking Him and no one else for this want/need. Whatever it may be, do not be embarrassed by the bruises, weakness, or madness because like mentioned before: He is the shame destroyer and the lover of the lame! The world says that our hurt and shame is weakness but God says that our hurt and shame is the starting point of a beautiful recovery. Be in the world, but not of it!
What I will take away from this is:
1. "He restores my soul" (Psalm 23:3). In response from this, when you are in need of restoration also pray for others to be restored.
2. God has extended His mercy to all of His people. Pray for your enemies and that they will accept HIs mercy & loving-kindness!
I am grateful and He is gracious. Happy Day!
XO
