Weak @ Heart
{A person God can use}
Before beginning I just want to pray this prayer that came my way this morning through my devotion:
"Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that there will not be a day that I would not need Your sufficient grace. Lord, please help me maintain an attitude worthy of your call and that welcomes Your grace. You are the Lord of lords, King of kings, and God of gods. Amen!"
From a previous blog I had mentioned that I absolutely adore starting my day with the Lord and making time with Him. There's something about starting your day brighter than the morning rays of the sun seeking through the blinds. A couple weeks ago my dad began to send my sister and I a quick reading of encouragement in the mornings. From doing my long devotion exceeding 30 min - 1 hour, it is nice to have this quick read to glance back on throughout the day.
Yesterday, March 1 (CANNOT BELIEVE IT IS MARCH), the encouragement he sent to me really captivated me and created tons of thoughts. It was based on Acts 2: 14-36, talking about Peter and his ministry of sharing the gospel. For all who are familiar with Peter, he was an apostle, a great friend to Jesus, however also denied Jesus 3 times. Remember now? Before Jesus was crucified, He told Peter at the last supper that Peter would deny Him. Which is found true, Peter wanted to save his own life instead.
3 strikes and you're out!!! Am I right? See we would all say, "Peter, look what you have done, there is no more chances left for you." That is what the worldly umpire would make us believe but the Ultimate Umpire of life has granted us mercy for new beginnings or ball games in this instance. Peter messed up, so do we! Instead of letting the world decide how he should live his life, he redeemed himself by spreading the gospel. He confessed his sin, mistake, and lowly act but he also accepted the beautiful grace God handed to him and used it to his ability. There are many people in the Bible we can learn from and that is not because they were people who didn't have conflicts, they were faced with many challenges even committed some of the worst crimes and they turned out out to be Godly motivators. The Lord's sense of humor is great because sometimes it takes sin to lead us to Him and to our calling in this temporary home.
"Peter is a good example of the type of person our heavenly Father can use---someone with strengths and weaknesses, who learns from mistakes and is surrendered to the Lord for His purposes." (Dr. Charles Stanley)
DO NOT LET YOUR WEAKNESSES DEFINE YOU. Instead, "be sympathetic, love as a brother or sister, and be compassionate & humble" (1 Peter 3:8) Isn't that ironic? Peter is telling us to be compassionate and sympathetic towards yourself and to other people because without the Lord or his fellow apostles, he would not have receieved any of this guidance. I just want YOU to believe that making mistakes is a part of life. If you didn't check on the boiling water, then it would have overflowed and your pasta would be burning on the stove OR if you didn't check the laundry then the dress you wanted to wear for your interview in 5 minutes is now wrinkled. I make mistakes everyday and you know what makes each day better? Knowing that the mistakes I made yesterday are both cleansed and learned. Remember Peter the next you make a mistake and allow the resolution to outgame your sin!!
I am grateful and He is gracious! Happy Day!
XO
