The Sensitive Warrior

Week one down, many many to go until Freshman year of college is accomplished. I can honestly say that this week has been filled with both stress and laughs; however the one part I have cherished the most was meeting new people. New classes result in new classmates and so fortunate to expand familar faces.

Have you ever been told that you were too sensitive? Or you need to be stronger? Maybe even beginning to compare yourself to another and their faith? We are all victims of this. Today it is a downer to be sensitive and rewarding to be strong, but let me tell you that none of us is truly "strong." Earlier this week while I was doing my devotion, the Lord was continuosly revealing things to me. It was quite astounding actually. I was asked this question, "Would you describe yourself as more strong than tender, or more tender than strong?" I stumbled and contemplated with this question until I answered, "I would be more tender hearted due to being sensitive however I want to be strong for those hurting around me, like restorative." Once I answered the question, I continued my devotion as well as reading the scripture when Christ revealed great promises to me.

Want to know something very neat the Lord revealed to me? Jesus is both sensitive and a warrior. "He is tenderhearted, ministering to our every need." People, He offers us grace because He wants to show love when we show hate, He keeps our tears to demonstrate that through the pain He is still faithful, and He answers our prayers because we have become dependable on Him. What reassurance that is! Jesus Christ is sensitive, passionate, and the most loving man you could ever know. So yes IT IS OKAY to be sensitive, to cry, to call out to Him because that is what the faith is all about. Wouldn't you want to increase your jar of tears? Next time you 'feel' like you are not allowed to show your emotions or have a heart for something not of this world, remember that Jesus is sensitive and if we want to live like Jesus does then be sensitive!!

Jesus is also a warrior. "In our greatest weakness, He is strong." He is the essence of all strength! When we think we are a slave to fear, remember that there is a Warrior to cast out all fear. Isn't this so incredible?! I am a huge fan of Captain America and Thor and while watching those movies you can instantly see their strength and fearfulness. Honestly, my heart will not stop pounding during these movies because it is so intense. But then I can only imagine how MUCH MORE powerful the Lord is. He is the ultimate surperhero... I like to think that out of all of the superheros we grew up watching, Jesus is all the powers in one. My heart is beating right now just imagining the power and strength Jesus has. So unbelievable that any rejection falls to His broad shoulders rather than our narrow ones.

I have confidence in knowing that You are exponentially greater and stronger in us than our enemy, the one who battles us in this world. (1 John 4:4) Ultimately Jesus is the best example of what true manhood and womanhood should look and act like. Being sensitive does not show weakness, it proves your heart is for Jesus. Being strong all the time does not limit you from having a heart, it demonstrates that God's power rests in you. Let us all, as believers, be a sensitive warrior because that is who Jesus is.

I am grateful and He is gracious. Happy day!

XO
